Gurudwara Raj Ghat Patshahi Dasvin Sahib in Kurukshetra

This beautiful Gurudwara is aptly situated near the famous Brahma Sarovar of Kurukshetra. It is dedicated to Guru Gobind ji. It is built at the place where guru sahib stayed during his visit on solar eclipse in 1702-03. He organized a langar against the rules of not preparing food during eclipse. At this langar, food was served after taking Satnam to quench the hunger of a Brahmin who came after increasing his hunger through spiritual powers.

Historical Gurudwaras in the city of Kurukshetra


There was a popular belief that giving costly gifts to Brahmins as alms during solar eclipse bring prosperity to the donor. Guruji loaded many rich gifts over a donkey and asked Brahmins to take them away. Brahmins were reluctant to touch the donkeys much to the amusement of spectators. But there was one young Brahmin Mani Ram who got hold of a donkey and he was blessed by guruji who gifted him a Hukamnama sahib and dagger.

Gurudwara Shri Patshahi Chevin Sahib in Kurukshetra

At a distance of 2 km from Kurukshetra, stands this historic Gurudwara dedicated to Guru Hargobind ji. It is exactly located between Pehowa Road and Railway Line. Guru ji visited this place twice. When he visited here for the first time, his princely appearance and equipped entourage, instilled doubts regarding him among the local pilgrims. They were confused to take him as successor of Guru Sahib Nanak ji. But the moment, guru ji began giving discourse on the inevitable relation between power and prayer, all their doubts vanished away.

Gurudwaras of Kurukshetra


It is the most significant and huge Gurudwara of Kurukshetra where managing committees at regional and local levels has their offices. Initially in 1909, there was only an erected platform at the place of this shrine. Later on independence of India, many Sikhs from Pakistan came as refugees and settled here. It was later on built by Baba Jiwan Singh through kar seva that include collection as well as volunteer services. Sikh festivals are celebrated in this Gurudwara with great festivities every year.

Gurudwara Shri Sidhvati Sahib Patshahi Pahili in Kurukshetra

This famous Gurudwara is situated on southern side of sacred Brahma Sarovar in Kurukshetra. It is dedicated to Guru Nanak ji who visited this place during solar eclipse. He came with a purpose to enlighten people regarding the myths related to natural phenomenon like solar eclipse. He preached among the priests and pilgrims that it is not related to mythological gods and demons in any way.

This Gurudwara in Kurukshetra is dedicated to three Sikh gurus, Guru Amar Das ji, Guru Har Rai ji, and Guru Har Krishan ji.

Shri Guru Amar Das ji: When Guru ji came here in 1523 along with his family at the time of solar eclipse, there was a tax imposed since rule of Babar on Hindu pilgrims. Guruji denied paying this tax and instead, he stayed outside city. Hearing this, Akbar waived the tax imposed on Guru ji and his followers. They took the holy dip for the first time without paying any tax.

Significant and ancient Gurudwaras of Kurukshetra


Guru Har Rai ji visited this place in 1656 on the dark night of Amavas and he expounded Sikh Sangat here.

Guru Har Krishan ji visited this place while coming from Kiratpur Sahib. He halted here to pay obeisance to the place of his father and he stayed at the house of Tarkhan where Guru Amar Das ji and Guru Har Rai ji also stayed during their visit to Kurukshetra. Guru Har Krishan ji organized a langar at this place in which the whole of Sikh Sangat had the meal together.

Gurudwara Shri Navin Patshahi Sahib in Kurukshetra

This Gurudwara in Kurukshetra is dedicated to Guru Tegh Bahadur ji. Guruji came to this city while he was on the missionary tour of Bangar and Malwa. It is located on Jhansa Road and it is the place where guru ji had his stay in the city.

This Gurudwara located in village Cheeka is dedicated to Guru Har gobind ji and Guru Tegh Bahadur ji. Guru Hargobind ji visited here while going to Gurudwara Nanak Mata in Uttar Pradesh. Guru Tegh Bahadur ji came to this place when he was going to Delhi for the supreme sacrifice at Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib.
